It's official!
Thus begins my latest venture! Friends in elected office are joking that I have "crossed over to the dark side" while friends in administration are saying I have "seen the light." I'm excited and eager to do a good job.

Congrats on the new job!
So...you planning to run next time?
Meblogin,
I'll won't say "never" but no, I do not plan to run for political office again any time soon, if ever.
One of the things Pleasant Garden councilmembers were looking for in a new administrator/clerk was stability -- three persons had held this position in the last 12 months and there is a great need for someone to stay in position long enough to get things really organized and to handle the nitty gritty details of keeping Town Hall running efficiently. I made the commitment to "stay put" if selected for the job and help them get that accomplished. I know it would be impossible to do a good job for Pleasant Garden and try to hold elected office too.
Holding elected office for 16 years is now a case of "been there, done that" for me -- I enjoyed it (most of the time), gained a tremendous amount of experience which I am now putting to good use in another venue, and hope I made a real difference for Greensboro. But my feet are on a different path now and I plan to stay on it for the forseeable future. Someone has already approached me expressing interest in running for city council but did not want to run against me -- I told that person to "go for it" with my full blessing, and I meant it.
There is definitely life after politics! [smile]
As a citizen of Pleasant Garden, and having seen first hand Sandy's work ethic - I say to Greensboro - your loss, our gain.
